for your Group
Enjoy a guided nature hike through our 46-acre preserve led by one of our staff. Hikes last approximately one hour, can be customized for a topic of interest, and can be scheduled at a variety of times.

FALL 2014 Guided Hikes
One of the best ways to enjoy Autrey Mill
is to take a Guided Hike!
For Fall 2014, Autrey Mill offers:
- A Family Hike Series (details, schedule, and registration below)
- Special BIRDING HIKE led by the Atlanta Audubon Society
Saturday, Oct. 11 at 8:00am
beginner adult and teen birders are welcome
Each hike has a different theme and includes a guided exploration of the trails plus fun theme-related activities, often at stations along the trails.
- Hikes are scheduled for a variety of days after school and Saturdays.
- Hikes last about 1.5 hours.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Strollers are not permitted on the trails.
- Please arrive a few minutes early - Hikes start at posted time.
- Hikes will take place rain or shine (dress appropriately), but may be cancelled in cases of severe weather.
Ages 3 and above (children must be accompanied by and adult)
$5 for members, $7 for non-members.
This series of hikes is designed for family groups, but all are welcome!
Family Hike Series - Fall Schedule
Monday, September 1 (Labor Day)
Colors Hike - We will make pigment from natural objects, then go on a color scavenger hunt through the trails and discuss the importance of animal markings by meeting two of our residents. Finally we will learn the importance of camouflage!
Saturday, September 20
Snail trail - Join us in an experiment of speed. Who is faster . . . a snail, a slug, or a worm? We'll also have a (gummy) worm dissection and go on a hike searching for invertebrates. Register now
Thursday, October 9
Tracks and Trails - Come help search out the animals in our own backyard by following tracks and trails. Additionally, we will learn about the web of life through a variety of games. Register now
Thursday, October 30
Eight Legged Hike - Spiders, spiders everywhere! We'll hike and explore the world of spiders plus scavenge for the three different types of webs. Discover why spiders don't stick to their own webs! Register now
Saturday, November 22
Turkey Trails - Join us on this hike to learn some the hundreds of sounds a turkey makes and what they mean! Register now
Thursday, December 4
Un-natural Trail - Learn about everyday objects that come from plants. Then we will go on a scavenger hunt for unnatural objects! Finish with recycling game! Register now
